Denmark receives official inquiry from Russian authorities on extradition of Akhmed Zakayev

Denmark received an official inquiry from the Russian authorities on the extradition of Akhmed Zakayev.

The Danish information agency reports, with reference to anonymous sources, that the inquiry was handed over to the foreign ministry of Denmark on Thursday, October 31st.

According to the Danish paper Politiken, the inquiry on Zakayev' extradition was sent to the justice ministry that same day. Representative of the justice ministry Mette Knudsen explained in an interview with the newspaper that the materials received will be considered. In addition, they will be handed over to police for more thorough study on Friday.

Akhmed Zakayev, a representative of Chechen separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov, was taken into custody on October 30th and will remain there till November 12th by decision of the Copenhagen court. Information of the Russian authorities given to the Danish law-enforcement bodies was the cause for the arrest.
