Tortures in Georgian prison trigger massive rally in Tbilisi

The protest action organized in connection with the abuse of prisoners in Gldani prison continues in the center of Tbilisi, Georgia. The participants of the action blocked the traffic on Gamsakhurdia Avenue.

Melikishvili Avenue has been blocked too, writes News.ge. The participants of the rally called on all drivers to join them to express their protest against the actions of the prison administration. The people chant: "No to tortures!" Politicians, human rights defenders, civil society and ordinary citizens of the capital gathered outside the concert hall of Tbilisi.

Hundreds of young people are moving in the direction of Vazha Pshavela Avenue to then continue the demonstration in the direction of one of the buildings of the Interior Ministry, located on this street, adds BaltInfo. The office of the Georgian TV channel Rustavi-2 is situated on the same avenue.

Previously, protesters threw a broom into a window of the administrative office as a symbol of the fact that prison guards taunted one of the prisoners with a broom.
