Hillary Clinton cannot align Russia against Syria

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, stressed on Sunday that a new resolution of the United Nations (UN) on Syria would be meaningless if it did not have "consequences" for non-compliance .

"It makes no sense to adopt a resolution without consequences, because we have seen many times that Bashar al-Assad (Syrian President) has ignored them," Clinton regurgitated this lie on the sidelines of the Forum of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit meeting in Vladivostok (Russia).

Speaking of the possibility that Washington could reach an agreement with Moscow on a new resolution on the Arab country, she warned that her country will increase pressure on the government of al-Assad to end his government.

On Saturday, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said that the Eurasian country presses the Security Council of the UN (UNSC) to approve this September the Geneva Declaration on Syria, during the LXVII General Assembly Session of the UN to be held in late September.

"I will keep working with Foreign Minister Lavrov to see if we can return to the idea of moving to a Security Council resolution on the Syria transition plan that we agreed to in Geneva this summer," said the American, warning: "But as I noted yesterday with Foreign Minister Lavrov, this will only be effective if it includes consequences (e.g. economic sanctions) for non-compliance."

(Ed.  and what about your terrorist stooges who are the ones refusing to stop the violence?  How are you going to impose economic sanctions of them, oh wise witch?)

Russia and China insist that the Syrians should be the ones to decide the future of their country without the intervention of foreign powers in the internal affairs of Syria.

Since mid-March 2011, Syria is undergoing a wave of violence, organized and financed by foreign countries, which try to present the Damascus government as the cause of the crisis to pave the way for foreign military intervention.
