Belarus and Iraq Agree to Cooperate in Health Protection and Pharmaceutics

A protocol for cooperation in health protection and pharmaceutics between Belarus and Iraq was signed today in Minsk after a visit from an Iraqi delegation led by Iraqi Health Minister Omed Mubarak. A Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the Foreign Ministry of Belarus that the Iraqi delegation had been invited to Minsk by the Belarussian Health Ministry. The delegation included leading Iraqi neurosurgeons, experts in radiation medicine and pharmacists. Negotiations were held with the Belarussian ministries of health and industry, the corporations Belbiofarm, Belmedpreparati and the Belarussian State University of Medicine. The Iraqi delegation also visited a number of Belarussian health clinics where they were shown equipment and contemporary methods of treating various illnesses.

Belarus believes the visit from the Iraqi delegation will help to increase cooperation between the two countries in health protection. In particular Belarus is willing to supply Iraq with any available medication and equipment as well as send Belarussian doctors to Iraq to exchange experience and give support to Iraqi doctors 'in view of the worsening humanitarian situation in Iraq which has been brought about by over 10 years of sanctions.'
