Scotland Yard know the whereabouts of the founder of Wikileaks

42568.jpegPolice in Britain know the whereabouts of Julian Assange, his lawyer said amid reports that they have failed to detain the WikiLeaks founder because of an error in a Swedish arrest warrant.

Newspapers reported that the 39-year-old Australian was believed to be in southeast England and that Scotland Yard had been in touch with his legal team for weeks but had been hamstrung by Stockholm's mistake, according to AFP.

President Obama's spokesman, Robert Gibbs, has said the U.S. government might want to prosecute Assange for violating U.S. secrecy laws and perhaps even for espionage. But that is not the reason for the notice - at least not yet.

Swedish authorities on Nov. 18 asked Interpol to help them take Assange into custody for questioning on accusations of rape and sexual harassment.

On Thursday, Sweden's Supreme Court upheld the court order seeking to detain him, Washington Post reports.
