Seven people, including three children, have escaped with their lives after they spent a terrifying night alone in the ocean after their boat sank 25 miles from shore.

The seven were miraculously spotted by a helicopter just as it was about to abandon its search off the coast of South Carolina today, Daily Mail reports.

According to the Coast Guard, the boat started sinking Saturday approximately 30 miles east of Charleston when the engine flooded.

At 10 p.m. Saturday the wife of the boat owner contacted the Coast Guard to report that the boat party hadn't shown up at an expected time.

All seven boaters, whose identities have not been released, were taken to MUSC; however, there's no official word on their condition, according to Live 5 News.
