Kerstin Juergens won a women's World Cup skeleton meet Friday.

The 29-year-old Juergens had a combined time of 1 minute, 58.26 seconds to beat another German, Monique Riekewald, by 0.45 seconds.

Noelle Pikus-Pace of the United States was third, 0.71 behind Juergens.

World Cup leader Katie Uhlaender of the United States finished fifth in 1:59.22.

Juergens' first run of 58.73 seconds set a new record for the Cesana track. In the second run, she finished second to clinch her first World Cup victory of the season, reports AP.

Juergens climbed to fifth in the overall standings with 291 points 264 adrift of Uhlaender.
