Olympic champion Yevgeny Plushenko will not perform at the Moscow stage of the Grand Prix, which will take place on November22-24.
"During a training session, Yevgeny suffered a microtrauma of the left knee, in connection with which doctors recommended him to reduce the load. He can train, but he will have to postpone his performances to avoid possible negative consequences," his coach Alexei Mishin said.
Last week, Plushenko performed at Volvo Open Cup international tournament in Riga, Latvia, where he took first place, having showed one of the best results of the season in the world.
This tournament became the first one in the Olympic season for Plushenko, who missed nearly 10 months because of surgery on his back. He had not appeared on ice in official competitions since January 2013.
