Russia's Paralympic athletes to meet Putin in Moscow Kremlin

In an anticipation of the XIV Paralympic Games in London, Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with members of the Russian national team. The head of state will hold the meeting with athletes on Aug, 21st, at St. Andrew's Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.

It is the first time when such a meeting will be held in the Kremlin, reports NTV. "The event will bring together more than 270 people: 163 athletes, 52 coaches, as well as more than 40 doctors, massage therapists and interpreters," a press release said.

The Paralympic Games will be held from August 29 to September 9. Russian athletes will perform in 12 sports: track-and-field, swimming, table tennis, judo, shooting sports, archery, wheelchair fencing, weightlifting, sitting volleyball (men), rowing, cycling, football of disabled individuals with cerebral palsy disease, Vesti FM said.

For the first time, Russia will take part in the Paralympic Games in cycling competitions among those with lesions of the musculoskeletal system.
