Children of Asia Sports Games in full swing in Yakutia

The Fifth International Sports Games "Children of Asia" continue in Yakutia. The competitions are held in three cities: Mirny, Neryungri and Yakutsk. About three thousand athletes from 27 countries of the world take part in the competitions. The competitions are held in 20 disciplines. For the first time, the program of the Games includes competitions in wrestling and powerlifting for the disabled.

Yakut athletes won all five possible gold medals in freestyle wrestling for  hearing impaired individuals.  This is the first time, when such program was included in the International Sports Games "Children of Asia". The coach of young athletes, Erchim Makarov, was pleased with his disciples: "Out of five possible gold medals, they took all five. We started training last year, preliminary competitions were held in Ulan-Ude and Astrakhan," he said. In addition, the wrestlers managed to win four silver and one bronze medal.

Today was the last day of track and field competitions. The day ended with a bright race among young men. Amangos Islam from Kazakhstan, a two-time champion of "Children of Asia," was the first to cross the finish line: "I dedicate my victory to my coach in the first place, to all of Kazakhstan and to my hometown Aktyubinsk. I will continue to train to compete for an Olympic medal." Amangos Islam took the lead and finished first 150 meters before the finish. A Malaysian athlete took the second place; Nikita Anufriev from Moscow became the third.

In track and field triathlon - Yakutian jumps - athletes from Yakutsk became absolute champions. They won 11 medals. The athletes compete in three types of jumps: kylyy,  ystanga and kuobah. The winners were determined on each type. In addition, the absolute champion was determined on the sum of triathlon. Mikhail Rufov became the absolute champion of the Fifth International Games "Children of Asia" by the sum of triathlon. His general result was 118 meters 12 centimeters. The athlete performed a standard for the Master of Sports. Silver medalist was Alexander Uarov, and a bronze medal went to Georgy Shergin.

The final tournament of the first absolute World Championship in Mass Wrestling, the second phase of the World Cup finished as well. The first world champion was a master of sports of wrestling, weight, a three-time Russian champion and a two-time absolute champion of Russia, a champion of Europe -  Viktor Kolibabchuk. The athlete from the Smolensk region praised the organization of the World Championship. "The tournament took place in an honest and hard struggle. The growth of all participants of the tournament can be well seen. To be honest, I did not expect to win. I am happy and full of emotions."

President of the International Federation and the All-Russian mass wrestling, Alexander Akimov, pointed out the huge growth of popularity of Yakut national sports that occured during the recent years. Mass wrestling crossed the border of the Eurasian continent and is now popular in South America and Brazil, in the Middle East and the UAE. Many athletes in those countries are professionally engaged in mass-wrestling within the scope of national federations of the sport.

Tomorrow, July 12, will be the day to start archery competitions. Eleven teams are allowed to participate. Five of them are from Russia, six - from foreign countries. In total, 36 athletes will take part in the competition: 19 boys and 17 girls. Archers from Syria, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, UAE, Vietnam, the Urals, the Siberian federal district, Bashkortostan, and Yakutia will compete at a distance of 60, 50, 40 and 30 meters (144 shots) for three days. The final competitions will be held from the distance of 60 meters. Winners will be determined in each exercise.
