Puck sends hockey player into coma

16-year-old hockey player Maksim Koposov, who plays for Olympia clubs from the town of Kirovo-Chepetsk, sank into a coma after he had been hit with a puck. The incident happened during the game.

The young man was hospitalized; he currently stays at the emergency care unit of the Penza municipal hospital.

The incident took place only two minutes before the game was about to end. The match was taking place at "The Golden Puck" Sports Complex ice arena of the city of Penza, Itar-Tass reports.

The chairman of the committee for physical culture and sports of the Penza region, Grigory Kabelsky, said that paramedics estimated the young player's condition as hard.

"Maksim is staying in hard condition, he is still in a coma," officials said. When Maksim lost consciousness, there was a nurse staying at the arena. Unfortunately, the nurse could not help the player. The ER vehicle arrived only in 30 minutes.

For the time being, the player is connected to the artificial respirating unit. The man suffered the pulmonary edema and the cerebral edema. The man's parents plan to relocate their son to Sklifosofsky's Institute in Moscow.

Maksim's fellow players said that the puck had hit the man in the chest.
