After a balanced opening spell, Schneijder tested Mucha on 11’. It was a warning. On 18’ Robben shot home from 20 yards out. Slovakia never really caused problems for Stekelenburg in the first half.
In the second, Mathijsen (51’) and Van Persie (59’) saw their shots before Stekelenburg saved Holland. On 67’, he tipped a Stoch rocket over and within seconds, saved from Vittek, who shot from 5 yards out in front of goal, a world-class save.
73’ Mucha saved a shot from Kuyt; 78’ Vittek had his second chance to score, ten yards out but shot over. 84’ Huntelaar scored Holland’s second and buried the game.
