Laszlo Cseh set new world record Friday in the men's 400-meter individual medley event.

The Hungarian finished in 3 minutes, 59.33 seconds at the European Short Course Swimming Championships.

Cseh set his previous record of 4:00.37 in December, 2005 in Trieste, Italy.

The Netherlands also set a world record in the women's 4x50 freestyle relay, with its team of Inge Dekker, Hinkelien Schreuder, Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Marleen Veldhuis finishing in 1 minute, 34.82 seconds.

The Netherlands also held the previous record of 1:36.27, set by Schreuder, Dekker, Veldhuis and Chantal Groot on Dec. 9, 2005, in Trieste, Italy.
