A day after Derby became the sixth club to change its manager, and speculation continued over the future of Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, Wenger said too many clubs expected instant results.

"The fire is always ready but now it looks as though you are burned on the village green quicker than ever before," said Wenger, who has been at Arsenal since 1996.

Wenger said part of the problem was the influx of foreign ownership.

"Rafa Benitez has done remarkably well at Liverpool and what is happening there is not down to sport or to results. It is down to internal differences," Wenger said Tuesday.

"I am fortunate, I have had the freedom and the support of my board to work as I want ever since I arrived in England. My directors understand you do not get success without that backing.

"But you need experience to realize that and I am not sure that everyone who has just bought their way into the game can appreciate that."

Wenger said the departure of Derby's Billy Davies was a case in point. Davies led Derby to the Premier League last season through the playoffs, but the club is now struggling in last place.

"What is strange is that a manager can pay the price for overachieving," Wenger said. "It cannot be right that the guy has put the club in a position where they never dreamed of being and, 14 games later, he is sacked."
