Lynne Spears, the mother of a pop star, will write a book about raising her family in the glare of the media spotlight.

The memoir could be a gossip lover's delight, providing maternal insight into the life of her daughter , who has gone from child star to tabloid train wreck. "Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World" is set for release May 11, on Mother's Day.

The book should clear up misconceptions about Lynne Spears, the book's co-author said.

"One thing I do want to make clear is that she's not a stage mom," Lori Craker told The Grand Rapids Press. "People are so accusatory toward her and so judgmental of her, and it just drives me crazy because I know the real her."

The singer and her mother had been estranged, but recently reconciled, Craker said.

Spears, 25, continued to make headlines on Friday when she arrived in a white Mercedes convertible for a court hearing in Los Angeles to work out custody arrangements of her sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears' new album "Blackout" is out Tuesday.
