Winehouse arrested in Norway for drug possession

Amy Winehouse, a British singer and a songwriter, was arrested in the evening in Norway for drug possession and held in custody until morning.

Winehouse, her husband Blake Fielder-Civil and a third person were released at around 7 a.m. (0500 GMT) Friday after paying EUR500 (US$715) in fines, Prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe said.

The trio were arrested shortly after 6 p.m. (1600 GMT) Thursday at a hotel in Bergen in southwestern Norway, where Winehouse is currently on a European tour, after a tip to the police.

"They were found with 7 grams (ј-ounce) of marijuana," Lothe said.

"She's paid the fine, so this thing is over for us now," he said.

Winehouse is due to perform in Bergen later Friday, and in Oslo on Saturday, before continuing to the Netherlands on Monday.
