Someone who has stolen an old auto repair shop left with a big surprise - a frozen alligator head in a garbage bag.

The Prange family, which has owned the shop for 87 years, was storing the head for a friend who planned to mount it.

"We hope he jumps when he opens the garbage bag," said Steve Prange, 55.

The suspect also took 30 pounds (13.6 kilograms) of frozen kingfish and snapper, but little else, police said.

Police spokesman Jim Young said officers would notice anyone with the reptile head.

"Taxidermied animals have disappeared before, but this is the first frozen alligator's head I've heard of," Young told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.
