Maradona:from clinic to clinic

Just two days after leaving the private clinic where he was treated for hepatitis related to alcohol abuse, Diego Maradona was hospitalized again: now with abdominal pain.

He was placed in the intensive care unit while he underwent tests, but his personal doctor Alfredo Cahe said Maradona's condition was not life-threatening.

"Diego has been hospitalized. His life isn't in danger," Cahe told Continental Radio. "He is in intensive care as a precaution."

Cahe added that Maradona was taken to a public hospital - Hospital Zonal de Ayudas - in the suburban Ezeiza district southwest of the capital after complaining of "strong abdominal pain."

Local television stations had live broadcasts from outside the hospital where Maradona was being treated for the second time in two months, the development dominating Argentine morning drive shows.

The 47-year-old Maradona was released Wednesday from a private clinic after treatment for hepatitis.

Revered in Argentina, Maradona led his country to the 1986 World Cup title and the final in 1990.

In 2000 and 2004, he was hospitalized near death for problems associated with cocaine addiction. He also battled obesity, and in 2005 had gastric bypass surgery.
