Travolta puts 'hog' up for auction to help restore old movie theater

A motorcycle ridden by John Travolta will be auctioned off to help with the restoration of a Florida landmark movie theater.

The "Wild Hogs" star, who owns a home near Ocala, attended a premiere for the movie in the city on March 2. Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston, drove down the red carpet on a custom-made Harley-Davidson motorcycle, modeled after one in the film.

Travolta autographed the bike, and it will be auctioned off at a benefit dinner in May. Also on the auction block will be Travolta's signed leather jacket and a signed motorcycle helmet.

Money raised by the auction will support the Marion Theatre renovation project and the Ocala Film Commission, reports AP.

"John has done so much for us, and we think the gala is going to be another great event," Marion Theatre spokeswoman Tava Sofsky said.

The Marion Theatre first opened in 1940. It closed in October for renovations, but officials hope to reopen it in July.
