Former Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida to be honored at Indian film festival

Former Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida will receive a lifetime achievement award at an international women's film festival to be held in the Indian capital next month, the festival director said Friday.

Lolobrigida, 79, a glamorous sex symbol of the 1950s and 1960s, has starred in films like "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "Come September," and "Strange Bedfellows."

Indian actress Rekha will also be honored with a similar award at the festival, Shyamali Banerjee, the festival director, told The Associated Press.

Australian film maker Jane Campion and Hollywood actress Faye Dunaway will be the guest speakers at the festival, Banerjee said.

It will include films about women and works by female filmmakers from all over the world.

The lifetime achievement awards will be presented at the end of the weeklong film festival, beginning Dec. 11.
