Moscow authorities deny permission to hold Madonna’s show on Moscow University Square

The Moscow government did not allow the organizers to hold Madonna's concert on Sparrow Hill, on the Moscow University Square. "We are continuing negotiations with the Moscow authorities regarding the conditions for the singer's show," PR manager of Madonna's tour in Russia, Anton Atrashkin said. The official added that more information could be revealed by the end of the day. “We have not been given a permission to hold the show on Sparrow Hills. The concert will take place in another part of the city, probably on Tushino air base,” he added.

The decision has been denied because of a large number of people willing to come and see Madonna’s first-ever performance in Russia. Moscow officials say that the crowd may count up to 250,000 people, which may cause serious problems in terms of public security. “The Moscow police will not be able to provide all necessary security measures for this event if it is held on the Moscow University Square,” an official of the Moscow government said.
