Pre-Budget report leaves British Olympic Association wondering

A pre-Budget report given to Parliament failed to mention funding for elite athletes, and the British Olympic Association thinks the snub will hurt its chances in the medals race at the 2012 London Olympics. British Treasury chief Gordon Brown announced the pre-Budget on Monday.

The host country is hoping to win 18 to 20 gold medals at the 2012 Olympics, which should be good enough to finish fourth in the overall medal standings. Britain was 10th at the 2004 Athens Olympics with nine golds. UK Sport chairwoman Sue Campbell was also shocked at the report, AP reports.
