Scott Simpson is taking a low-key approach to his Champions Tour debut this week in the SAS Championship.
Simpson, who turned 50 on Sept. 17, plans to enter the remaining four Champions Tour events this year. He has seven victories on the U.S. PGA Tour.
Craig Stadler is the defending champion in the tournament that begins on Friday at Prestonwood Country Club. Last year, the tournament was Stadler's fifth of five 2004 titles, and he became the first player in more than six years to win three straight tournaments on the Champions Tour. He had a tournament-record 17-under 199 total. Stadler is winless in 17 Champions Tour starts this year. He also has played six PGA Tour events, AP reports.
