Juventus beats Parma, Reggina upsets Udinese in Serie A

Defending champion Juventus took its perfect record to five straight wins by beating Parma 2-1 Saturday on goals by international midfielders Mauro Camoranesi and Patrick Vieira.

The away victory at Tardini stadium gives Juventus 15 points and an undisputed lead in the standings. Fiorentina and Palermo, which play their round-five matches Sunday, have 10 points each. Veteran striker Marco Delvecchio put underdog Parma in front in the 14th minute with a left-footed diagonal shot, on an assist by former Valencia forward Bernardo Corradi.

Juve struggled for long periods during the first half, unable to create scoring chances, until Argentine-born Camoranesi netted the equalizer in the 44th with a long-distance drive. After Camoranesi and David Trezeguet squandered two clear scoring chances, second-half substitute Zlatan Ibrahimovic passed to Vieira for the winner in the 82nd.

Vieira, who transferred to Juventus from Arsenal in the offseason, headed his third league goal in five matches. Ibrahimovic played in only the second half to be rested for Tuesday's Champions League match with Rapid Vienna.

Alessandro Del Piero, who scored both Juventus goals in last Sunday's 2-1 win with Ascoli, sat on the substitute bench for the entire game. Earlier Saturday, Reggina scored a goal in each half to beat Udinese 2-0 and record its first win of the Serie A season.

Midfielder Francesco Cozza scored in the 42nd with a powerful right-footed drive from the edge of the area at Granillo stadium in Reggio Calabria. Substitute Simone Cavalli netted in the 76th when Udinese defenders stopped, claiming he was offside.

Udinese, which placed fourth last season, suffered its third straight loss in five rounds. It plays powerhouse Barcelona on Tuesday in the Champions League. Udinese ended the match with 10 men after striker Fausto Rossini was ejected in injury time for a bad foul.

For the second straight match, leading striker Vincenzo Iaquinta was left out for not renewing his contract. Iaquinta scored a hat trick in Udinese Champions League Group C opener against Panathinaikos. Reggina is on three points, after four consecutive losses, while Udinese has six, AP reports.
