Toms will play Presidents Cup

David Toms was released from Pittsburgh's UPMC-Presbyterian University Hospital on Friday, one day after being admitted for a rapid heart rate.

Toms, the 2001 PGA Champion, was diagnosed with Supravenricular Tachycardia, which is any rapid heart rate originating above the ventricles. Toms planned on returning to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa, the site of this weeks 84 Lumber Classic, where he originally fell ill after playing nine holes in the first round.

The 11-time winner on the PGA Tour also said that he still plans on playing next week at The Presidents Cup. According to the statement released by his foundation, his condition is non- life-threatening and can be treated by either medication or minor surgery.

That diagnosis is the same one LPGA star Meg Mallon received after she was hospitalized following Sunday's Solheim Cup. She underwent a procedure and could return to the LPGA Tour as early as next week, The Sports Network reports.
