The Toronto Maple Leafs re-signed forward Alexei Ponikarovsky to a two-year contract yesterday. The 25-year-old Ponikarovsky had six points in 19 games for Voskresensk of the Russian Hockey League last season. In 2003-04 with Toronto, he had a career-high 28 points, including nine goals in 73 NHL games. The native of Ukraine has played 116 career NHL games for Toronto. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. He was a restricted free agent, AP reports.
