Sharapova won second round at Wimbledon

Defending champion Maria Sharapova easily beat 15-year-old Sesil Karatantcheva of Bulgaria 6-0, 6-1 Thursday in the second round at Wimbledon.

The second-seeded Russian has beaten Karatantcheva all three times they have met, including in the first round at the Australian Open.

Sharapova will face either Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia or Cho Yoon-jeong of South Korea in the next round.

Karatantcheva upset Venus Williams at the French Open and went on to the quarterfinals before losing.
