Candidacies for Presidency Fight on the Air

The debate between candidacies running for presidency in Azerbaijan was broadcast on the national television on September 6th. The program was stopped because of the scandal. The television program was devoted to candidacies' views regarding the regulation of the Karabakh conflict.

At the end of the program, Fuad Mustafayev (from the People's Front of Azerbaijan) called Khafiz Gajiyev (from Muasir Musavat party) a dishonest person. Gajiyev called Mustafayev a dog in return. Spokesman for the People's Front of Azerbaijan threw a glass in Khafiz Gajiyev. After that, Gajiyev stood up and walked in Mustafayev's direction. The TV host cut the broadcast, so the result of the fight is not known.

There are twelve candidacies running for presidency in Azerbaijan. The election is to take place on October 15th. The pre-election campaign was launched on August 16th.
