Russian Deputy Beats Police Officers with Baseball Bat

The incident occurred on Tuesday, at 5 a.m. in Krasnaya Presnya Street in Moscow. As police officers said, three drunk men stopped a patrol vehicle not far from the metro station Ulitsa 1095 Goda (1905 Year Street). As it turned out later, deputy Vladislav Demin from LDPR faction of the Russian parliament and his assistant Aleksey Kozertsky were two of the three men.

When police officers stepped out of their vehicle, Demin attacked them yelling "Beat Cops!" The deputy hit one of them in the face. The deputy's assistant took several baseball bats from a jeep that was parked nearby and started beating police officers.

Police officers said that violent parliamentarians were calmed down when another group of police officers arrived. Since Vladislav Demin presented his ID of a deputy, he was released. The deputy's assistant was arrested, whereas the third participant of the incident escaped.

At present moment, Moscow law-enforcement bodies discuss the question to institute criminal proceedings regarding the incident. The press service of the Russian Liberal and Democratic Party (LDPR) did not comment on the incident, having simply stated that the leaders of the party were away.
