Bashkiria's Prosecutor Issued Warning to Mufti Tadzhuddin

On Friday the prosecutor of Bashkiria (constituent member of the Russian Federation), Florid Baikov, issued an official warning to Mufti Talgat Tadzhuddin in view of his calls for jihad, the Information and Public Relations Department of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office reported on Friday. The warning reads that "your reference to the Moslem sacred war fans religious intolerance." The Bashkirian prosecutor warned the Mufti against violating the Federal Law "On Counteraction to Extremism" and about the responsibility in accordance with the law if he continues unlawful activity.

According to the Office's press release, the warning was issued after the checking of media reports on "the declaration of jihad by the Islamic Central Department of Moslems of Saint Rus", conducted by the Prosecutor's Office. Tadzhuddin called for jihad during a rally to end the war in Iraq in Ufa, on April 3.
