Bee dances decoded!

British scientists have developed tiny transmitters to understand dances bees perform in their hives. Specialists believed long ago that the dances are a means to inform other beers living the hive of rich nectar sources. Confirmation to the theory has been presented for the first time.

Tiny antennas fixed on bees’ backs allow to track precision of bee movements when they follow routes discovered by other bees to reach sweet substances. When a bee discovers a nectar source, it performs a ritual dance for other bees to inform them not only of the direction, but even of an approximate distance to the nectar.

Similar experiments are to be soon performed on other insects, ants and cockroaches, for example. As of now, we can only guess what information they wish to transmit when they perform odd movements in out kitchens. Delfi.ru
