In Tambov region people pay fines for obscene language

Village residents of the Tambov region of Russia start smoking and using dirty language in early childhood. The head of the Joint-Stock Company Zarya (Daybreak) Valdimir Krushatin decided to put an end to that disgrace. He organized the whole action, which was called “Pure Russian Language.” If someone utters a bad word on his territory at witnesses’ presence, this person will be fined. The sum of the fine is five rubles (one American dollar costs 31 Russian rubles). However, people say that the author of the linguistic initiative loses control sometimes and “expresses his compliments” to colleagues in the sum 50-70 rubles. So, as you can see, Tambov men cannot live without bad words. However, the guys from Zarya started watching their language, this was a fact. The fines were collected in the money-box, which was opened before Women’s Day: all that money was spent on presents for women so that they could feel the weight of a man’s word.
