To see your imprisoned lover – give a can of paint

Meeting with prisoners in exchange for paint to restore the prison has been proposed to their relatives and beloved ones by the administration of a prison in the city of Bishkek.

On the gate of the prison, everybody could read about the conditions of the exchange: three kilograms of the building material guarantee 48-hour meeting with a prisoner, while 24-hour meeting costs 1 kg of paint.

Penitential institutions of Kirghizia have now serious economical troubles, so it cannot be excluded that experience of this prison (where restoring work has been started) will be used by other prisons’ administrations.
