Rosupak-2002 International Packaging Exhibition Opens in Moscow Today

Today, in Moscow, the Rosupak-2002 international packaging exhibition opens at the Sokolniki exhibition centre featuring packaging materials, technologies, machinery, and equipment. According to the press service of the Rosupak Association of Russia, one of the organisers of the event, the participants include about 500 Russian and foreign companies producing packaging materials and machines.

Russian participants include such companies as Arkhbum, Arsenal Industries, Apostrof, Variant, and the Kaluga Experimental Plant. The West is represented by HGS, Technoform GmbH, Bobst S.A., YAM International, G.N. Plastics, and Kama Europe Ltd. Conferences, seminars, and roundtables will be held while the exhibition continues until June 22.

According to the Rosupak Association, there are about 200 companies producing packaging machinery in Russia. These companies belong to various industries, including the defence complex. The total worth of packaging machinery assimilated by the market annually amounts to about USD 650 million. According to the Department of Technologies, Equipment, and Packaging Materials for Food and Processing Industries of the Ministry of Agriculture, in Russia, up to 40% of all vegetables and fruit, up to 3% of all frozen fish, and about 1 million tonnes of meat perish annually due to the insufficient supply of packaging.
