Russian Football Union does not accept resignation of the coaches of the Russian national football team

The resignation of the coaches of the Russian national football team due to its poor performance at the 2002 World Cup has not been accepted. "I shall not accept any resignations right now," president of the Russian Football Union Vyacheslav Koloskov has said in an interview with RIA Novosti. The performance of the Russian national football team at the World Cup and the work of its coaches will be appraised by the executive committee of the Russian Football Union in the first half of July, he added.

According to Koloskov, a brief meeting of the team has been held on Saturday. "I have no reasons to reproach the Russian team for anything. Everyone did all he could but apparently the level of skills proved to be insufficient for the successful performance at the World Cup, he said.

According to him, the wold championship has demonstrated that it is possible to win a victory only in the case of "the players' full devotion to the game, their utmost efforts and even heroism."
