Tretyakov Gallery hosts exhibtion devoted to international Tchaikovsky Competition

"Sound and Image. Music in Russian Art of the 11th-20th Centuries" is the name of the exhibition, which opened at the Tretyakov Gallery on Tuesday.

The exposition presents more than 500 exhibits, mostly rarities from 23 Russian museums, for instance, manuscripts of the 11th-12th centuries with hooked record of notes, ancient psaltery of the 11th century, a wax model of the serf orchestra, which belonged to the family of Natalia Goncharova, the wife of Alexander Pushkin, the guitar of gypsy Tanya, whose singing the great poet enjoyed, icons, paintings, sculptures and graphics.

Many things are being exhibited for the first time, some of them have been just restored. Tretyakov Gallery's general director Valentin Rodionov stressed that this exhibition has been prepared especially for the Tchaikovsky Competitiont.
