Bolshoi Theatre ballet at festival in Finland

On Thursday Russian State Academic Bolshoi Theatre ballet will open the first Finnish International Festival of THE Ballet in the city Savonlinna.

The spectators will come to the hall of the summer theatre of opera and ballet in the ancient castle "Olavinlinna" to see the ballet by Pyotr Tchaikovsky The Swan Lake.

A troupe of 115 dancers and 90 musicians conducted by Pavel Sorokin will represent Russia's main theatre. Besides The Swan Lake, Finnish ballet admirers will see Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus.

The Festival is to last till June 4th. Within this period, the masters of the Russian stage will give six performances.

The opening of the Festival will be attended by prominent cultural figures, Finnish public and political figures and the member of the Festival's council of board, Speaker of the Russian State Duma Gennady Seleznyov.
