There will be city guards in medieval dresses in Tallinn

Guide policemen will wear medieval dresses while being on duty and, when necessary, help tourists to find their way in the city, though, which is the most important thing, they will be empowered to fine lawbreakers. City administration of Tallinn has already prepared amendments to the law, permitting to the workers of guarding firms to fine lawbreakers. The vice-mayor of Tallinn, Anders Tsahkna supposes that “the city guards could look after order in the city. They could master foreign languages, the history of Tallinn, and some other things. They could help to the tourists who lost their way and carry out short excursions for them.” All the measures should be a part of the city programme aimed for intensification of keeping order in the city. The creation of the new service has been included in 2003 budget strategy of Tallinn.
