Group of Japanese journalists to visit Moscow at Moscow government's invitation

A group of Japanese journalists will visit Moscow this week at the invitation of the Moscow government to familiarise itself with the tourist landmarks of the Russian capital. The Russian side fully finances the project. Assistance in its implementation is given by the Moscow association of tourist agencies /MATA/, the Aeroflot air company and the Russian Information Agency Novosti. The representatives of the central and specialised tourist mass media of Japan who will stay in Moscow from May 15th to 19th will make a series of tourist excursions in the capital of Russia and visit the Moscow international tourist exhibition. The vice-mayor of Moscow and a number of members of the Moscow government will meet the participants in the press tour. In 2002 the Moscow government plans to organise, jointly with MATA, a series of trips for journalists writing on the themes of tourism and travels to the capital of Russia. These press tours are bound to help the foreign audience get a better idea of the tourist landmarks of Moscow and to thereby make in perspective for increasing the number of foreign tourists visiting the capital of Russia.
