Alexander Lebed to be buried in Moscow

Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Lebed who perished in an air crash on Sunday will be buried today at the Novodevichye cemetery near the grave of the wife of the first president of the USSR, Raisa Gorbacheva, at the wish of the members of Alexander Lebed's family. The other persons who perished in the helicopter crash were buried in the Alley of Glory of the Krasnoyarsk city cemetery. A mourning rally was held in Krasnoyarsk on Tuesday. More than 50,000 people came to bid farewell to Alexander Lebed. Along with Lebed, his deputy Nadezhda Kolba and chief of the department of tourism Lev Chernov, as well as local journalists Igor Gareyev, Natalya Pivovarova and Konstantin Stepanov perished as a result of the crash of a MI-8 helicopter in the Yermakovsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
