First International Youth Sambo Tournament With Presidential Prizes To Be Held In Moscow May 6

The first international youth tournament in sambo (unarmed self-defence), called Victory, with prizes from Russian President Vladimir Putin, will be held in Moscow on May 6, in the universal sports hall Friendship at the Luzhniki complex. A preview news conference was held at Luzhniki at Tuesday. Pavel Rozhkov, chairman of the State Sports Committee of the Russian Federation, told journalists that the tournament, whose organising committee is led by Georgy Poltavchenko, presidential envoy to the Central Federal District, will be based on Olympic principles. Taking part in it will be teams of young sportsmen born in 1986 and 1987 in the cities of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. Each team is represented by 12 athletes, one for each weight category. Winners will be awarded special cups and souvenir medals and all participants in the tournament will be presented with sambo outfits and commemorative souvenirs.
