Belarus Backs Up China's Application For Hosting 2008 Olympics

Belarus backs up China's application for staging the Olympic Games of 2008 in the capital of the People's Republic of China, Beijing. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this at a meeting with Mayor of the Chinese capital Liu Qi on Monday. Lukashenko stressed that Belarus "will spare no effort" for Beijing to win the right to host the Olympics. During the talk the sides also spoke for the necessity to develop direct trade and economic relations between the capitals of the two countries. The head of the Belarussian state arrived in China on Sunday on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Chairman Jiang Zemin of the People's Republic of China.
