Sergei Ivanov to discuss in Minsk the military doctrine of Russia-Belarus Union

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov will discuss in Minsk the military doctrine of the Russia-Belarus union state. He said this to journalists on Monday in the Minsk airport. The minister arrived in the Belarussian capital to take part in the joint collegium of the Russian and Belarussian military departments which opens on Tuesday. Among the priority issues to be discussed Sergei Ivanov singled out the problem of harmonisation and unification of Russian and Belarussian legislation in the military sphere. On the whole, the minister stressed, we should discuss questions which will make it possible "to fill the military part of the treaty of the Russia-Belarus union state with concrete content." This is Sergei Ivanov's first foreign visit as a defence minister. He is expected to be received by Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko as well as to meet with State Secretary of the Belarussian Security Council Ural Latypov and Defence Minister Leonid Maltsev.
