Russian Government Concerned about Youth's Spiritual Potential

Mikhail Kasyanov, the Prime Minister, believes that in Russia social policies must go along with the wide-scale rebirth of the spiritual potential of the young. Today, opening the all-Russian discussion of the social development of the country in the year 2001, Mr. Kasyanov said the assurance of the growth of incomes, struggle against poverty and the protection of the most socially vulnerable remained the priority strategic objectives of the government. Funds have been allocated, over the past 10 years, to alleviate the worst social problems. In the meantime, a new generation has grown and its spiritual potential must become one of the central objects of the government's social policies.
