Russian Marat Safin ranks second in ATP tennis

Russian Marat Safin holds second position in the new ATP Tennis Race 2002 rating list published on Monday, a RIA Novosti correspondent informs. Safin has 148 points. There have been no changes among the top three: the first position still belongs to Thomas Johansson with 215 points, and the third position after Marat Safin belongs to Jiri Novak from the Czech Republic /127 points/. Nicolas Escude went up from the 11th position to the fourth with 112 points. Positions from 5 to 10 are occupied by the following tennis players: Thommy Haas /Germany/ - 102 points, Roger Federer /Switzerland/ - 101 points, Tim Henman /GBR/ - 100 points, Greg Rusedski /GBR/ - 82 points, Younes El Aynaoui /Marocco/ - 74 points, Andy Roddick /USA/ - 72 points. 19-year-old Roddick made it to the top ten from the 42nd position. Russian Yevgeny Kafelnikov has lost 4 positions and ranks 28th with 39 points. Besides Safin and Kafelnikov, three more Russian tennis players have made it to the top 100 of the ATP tennis list: Mikhail Yuzhny - 51st position /43 points/, Nikolai Davidenko - 83rd position /11 points/ and Andrei Stolyarov - 98th position /7 points/.
