Kitchen knives could be banned in Estonia

The international tournament of the Middle Ages clubs in Narva (Estonia) is under the threat of failure. This festival gathers those people, who like to arrange the historic duels, fighting with swords. The problems came up in connection with the new law of the republic of Estonia, which is coming into effect from April 1. This law is about the weapon.

Eesti Paevaleht newspaper wrote that the new law would allow every citizen of the country to have up to eight units of fire-arms as personal property, but the law does not allow the citizens to have swords, spears, and rapiers. Many of the cold steel will also be banned, and this is the kind of weapon that is used at the mentioned tournament.

The specialists of Estonia’s Home Ministry commented on the issue and said that even the sports bows could be outlawed from April 1. Experts said that the government could also ban kitchen knives, axes, pitchforks in this case too – anything that you can kill a person with.
