Afghan Drama To Send Central Asian Refugees Flocking To Crimea?

Crimean authorities expect a refugee inflow from the post-Soviet Central Asia with Afghan developments. Valeri Gorbatov, Prime Minister of the subtropical autonomy in Ukraine, will lead headquarters for refugee affairs, which the Crimea is establishing. The HQ will be responsible for safety arrangements in strategic projects, prevent tentative provocations, accommodate and register refugees, provide necessary supplies, and ensure sanitary and epidemiological checks of refugee camps. Though the autonomy can cater for 20 or 30 thousand refugees, on Mr. Gorbatov's evaluations, the Elders' Council under the Crimean Parliament Speaker expects 70 or even 80 thousand ethnic Crimean Tatars to join their kinsmen. Many Tatars still remain in post-Soviet Central Asia, where they were deported from the Crimea on Joseph Stalin's order soon after World War II. There is no mass refugee inflow toward the Crimea on the Black Sea coast for now, reports the press service of the Ukrainian State Borderguard Committee.
