Photo Exhibition Dedicated To Climatic Changes Opens In Moscow

With a Naked Eye is the name of an exhibition organised in the Russian capital under the aegis of the World Wide Fund for Nature. Dedicated to the greenhouse effect problem, the exhibition features 49 works by 26 celebrity photographers like Sebastio Salgado, Abbas, Gabriel Basilica and Robert Gamm and others. The exhibition moved to Moscow after touring Helsinki, Frankfurt, Munich and other European cities. All photographs featured were taken by digital cameras and printed with the help of the latest computer equipment. "For many people, the greenhouse effect remains a very distant and vague threat," says Director of the fund's Russian branch Igor Chestin, who believes photographers' contribution will help "draw public attention to the cause, consequences and ways of solving this problem." The World Wide Fund for Nature, the world's largest international ecological organisation functioning on a nongovernmental basis, opened its office in Russia in July, 1994. Since then, the fund initiated and is currently engaged in almost 80 projects in various regions of Russia.
