Muscovites Will See "doctor Zhivago" Performance For The First Time

The famous Taganka Theatre of Moscow included into its repertoire a play adapted from the "Doctor Zhuvago" novel written by Boris Pasternak - one of the most famous Soviet literary works which was banned in the Soviet Union. The novel about the tragic fate of intelligentsia after the Bolshevik revolution in Russia was awarded a Nobel prize in 1958 but was published in the Soviet Union only 30 years later during the Gorbachev "perestroika". On Saturday Muscovites will for the first time see its theatrical version created by Yuri Lyubimov, a prominent director and head of the Taganka Theatre. The play was staged back in 1993 on the initiative of the Vienna theatrical festival and its premiere in the Vienna "Odeon" theatre took place the same year. After Vienna the "Zhivago" play went on a big tour across European countries and was a huge success. According to critics, this Lyubimov's production is a magnificent combination of poetry, music and staging.
