Russia Celebrates 59th Anniversary Of Stalingrad Battle

On November 19th Russia celebrates the 59th anniversary of the beginning of the Soviet counter-offensive against fascist aggressors in the environs of Stalingrad. Celebrations devoted to the crucial day in the Great Patriotic War are being held in Volgograd (former Stalingrad). Veterans, participants in the Volga battle, gathered by the panorama-museum "The Battle of Stalingrad" to honour the memory of their lost comrades and the hard times of the battle of Stalingrad which lasted about 200 days. The Soviet Army encircled and captured the army of German Field-Marshal Von Paulus. The Battle of Stalingrad brought fame to the Russian arms and was included in many manuals of the art of war.
